The Valentine candy gram sale is coming up. We wanted to start getting a volunteer schedule together sooner, rather then later. The Jingle Gram sale went very smoothly. We sold over 1,000 grams. That's alot! If you are able to help out for this sale, please let Melissa McCormick know. You can email her at melissa@mccormick-idaho.com

The sale dates are Monday - Wednesday, February 7th, 8th & 9th. Same schedule as before:

Before school (8:30 - 9:15)
Lunch A (11:30 - 12:15)
Lunch B (12:15 - 1:00)
After school (3:30- 4:15)

Thank you to all the parents and teachers for their donations and time to make the carnival a huge success. It was a great week. Thank you to Don Nelson and Scott Dorval for judging our pumpkin contest. Thank you to all the parents and teachers in putting together the awesome scarecrows. Thank you to Stonehenge Produce (Farmers Market) on Fairview for donating the hay bales, corn stalks and pumpkins. Thank you to all our vendors. Thank you to all the volunteers that made the night possible especially Angela Sasser, Sara Weber and Rebecca Mace for all the games. Thank you to Mrs. Clark for her continued support.

Reflections is Due November 15th, 2010. 2010-11
Reflections Program Theme: "Together we can." 6 areas are: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).

What your donations have helped accomplished this year so far:
Art supplies, projectors for individual classrooms, health curriculum and supplies for individual classrooms. Thank you for your support you are what makes Hunter such a great school.

Hello Hunter Parents and Staff,

Just some updates and information:

- Jog-A-Thon is October 1st, the money envelopes are due back by October 11th.

- Fall Carnival is on October 22nd, with food, games, costume parade (weather permitting), scarecrow auction, pumpkin decorating contest (due October 18th, 2010) and lots of FUN.

-We are in need of volunteers for the Carnival, if you are interested and can volunteer your time please contact the PTA or your child's teacher.

This year the PTA will have some new events as well as some past favorites. To succeed we need you. We want to be as organized as possible, please let us know which activities/events that you are interested in helping with.

With out the volunteers these activities would not happen. Please consider the contribution that you could make that will ensure that the students and families at Hunter continue to have enriching activities that make their school experience even better.

Imagine what it would be like if everyone volunteered at least once a year and the impact that would have on your child's school. Here is a list of events/activities that we will need volunteer help with.

First PTA meeting of the year

Hello parents and staff,

Our first PTA meeting of 2010/2011 will be held on Monday 9/13/10 at 4:00 pm, babysitting will be provided for those of you who need to bring the kids along!!!

This year there are going to be many fun activities to raise money to enrich our students here at Hunter. If you are unable to make it to these meeting but will still like to help the PTA you can always donate to the PTA at any time. All you have to do is send in a check with your student to give to their teacher and make the check out to Hunter PTA.

This month we will be holding the PTA membership contest from 9/1 - 9/25. The two classes (one in K-2 and one in 3-5) that have the highest percentage of families that join the PTA will win a party.

Membership dues for 2010/2011 are only $10 for a family membership, we are striving for 100% precipitation. Membership dues can be turned into the classroom or the office during the contest. Please make checks payable to HUNTER PTA.

Hello parents, students, and staff members of Hunter!!! We hope you have all had a wonderful fun packed summer! The first day of school is fast approaching. Here are a few bits of info for you to start off our year:

-August 25th after 5:00, the class list SHOULD be posted on the door of the school.

-Meet & Greet your Teacher Night is August 26th, 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

-Directly following the Meet & Greet will be a PTA Ice Cream Social from 6:30 - 7:30 on the side lawn.

Please join us and sign up to help for the upcoming events happening at Hunter Elementary for the 2010/2011 school year. Please bring a lawn chair to sit on for a brief meeting.

Also, to build amazing sundaes, we need help from all of you.

If your last name begins with A,B,C or D please bring Fudge Topping.
If your last name begins with E, F, G or H please bring Caramel Topping.
If your last name begins with I, J, K or L please bring Candy Topping.
If your last name begins with M, N, O or P please bring Whipped Cream.

-Hunter is in need of 4 parent volunteers to help with directly parking, walking, & traffic flow for the first 2 weeks before and after school. If this is something you can help with please contact the school office ASAP. Hunter is also in need of two more crossing guards, please contact Mrs. Clark if you are interested and the applications are available on line at the school districts website.

Hunter PTA's New 2010/2011 Board Members

Thank you all who came to the last PTA meeting of the year. What a great turn out we had. It is always so good to see so many faces at the meetings.

We accomplished quite a bit, we have a new board in place for next year, discussed the possibility of moving some of our big fundraising events around a little, we briefly discussed the budget and what will be carried over for next year, the teachers requested some new supplies that they would love to have before school starts next year (we are going to try our hardest to make that happen for them), and last but not least voted in our new board members, and here they are:

Last PTA meeting of the year

The last PTA meeting of the year is going to be held on June 1st, 4:00 - 5:00 at the school. We encourage all to come.

Some topics that will be discussed are:

-Voting in the new PTA board for the 2010/2011 school year
-Discussing the outcome of the Carnival & talking about ideas for next year's carnival
-Finding out the ending balance of the PTA budget that will carry over to next year
-Discussing any subjects that will help and encourage our new PTA board to have a successful year.

This is the time to voice any opinions or offer to share any ideas that will help the Hunter PTA.

This week 5/3/10 - 5/7/10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please remind your student to thank their teacher and/or make a nice thank you card/gift for their teacher. They do so much for our students, and we so appreciate their hard work!!!

Just a reminder the Spring Carnival is Friday May 14th 5:00 - 8:00 pm

Circus Theme, read two post below to see all the information about the carnival. Tell your neighbors, family and friends, ALL are welcome!!!

Don't forget that this is Hunter's Biggest Fundraiser for the year. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly back into the classrooms. With the new budget cuts set for next year, this will help off set the cut backs that your students teachers will face in the 2010/2011 school year.

Also we are in desperate need of donations for our raffle baskets. If you would like to donate but don't have time to buy donation gifts, please feel free to donate monetarily. We will be using money donations to help buy items for the baskets also.

2010 Spring Fling Carnival is almost here!!!

Friday May 14th 5:00 - 8:00 pm

The Carnival is Hunter's BIGGEST fundraiser for the year; the kids are already anticipating the fun. Most importantly... 100% of the proceeds go back into Hunter Elementary classrooms."

Here are a few vital bits of information that you may want to know in advance,

Come Hungry.....Food Vendors are:

Idaho Pizza Co. Pizza by the slice- $3
Super Pollo Mexican- Burrito with chips & salsa -$5, Nachos -$3
Hot Dog combo deal includes chips & bottled water-$3

Also back by popular demand....Kettle Corn and sugar sticks, snow cones and cotton Candy.

There will be 13 Carnival circus games. We have learned quite a bit from last year's Carnival and have made some much needed changes to make this year's Carnival run even better then last year's and a bigger success!!

Game tickets will be .25 cents per ticket or you can pre order a wrist band for your student that gets them unlimited game play for $5. (there will be a flier that comes home with wrist band order info in it)

Don't forget the Dunk Tank......3 balls for $1 (Mr. McGinnis will be in the tank)

Ice Cream Sundae Banana Split Sock Hop

Hello Hunter parents and staff,

Happy February!!!

We have a great fun event coming up this month. The 4th & 5th grades are sponsoring the Soc Hop. It will be a 50's themed Sock Hop with a DJ and Banana Splits and Ice cream Sundaes. This should be a fun night for all the Hunter families. All the proceeds from this event will go directly to the 4th & 5th grades for items they need in the classrooms.

So bring your families and neighbors to a fun filled night.

The event will be held Friday night 2/26/10 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Bargain prices $2.00 for a Banana Spilt or regular Sundae, with all the fixings, (minus nuts due to the amount of children that have nut allergies)

We look forward to see you all there!!!

Also, February 17th Hunter will be honoring the Crossing guards, Bus drivers and Recess yard duties. So if you see these staff members while dropping off or picking up your kids please make a special effort to say Thank you! Remind your kids to thank their bus drivers, and the yard duties. It always brightens their days.

Last but not least, we will be holding another PTA Carnival planning meeting on 2/24/10, in the cafeteria from 7:00 -8:00 pm. Please, please come and bring all your thoughts and ideas. This is our BIGGEST fundraiser for the year, and it needs the most volunteers. This years Carnival will have a "Circus Theme".

For those of you who may not know, the proceeds from last years carnival purchased Hunter a huge sign for the front of the school, it is in the process of being finalized and you should see it being installed with in the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for it.

Hunter's Family Bingo Night

Hunter's 2nd & 3rd graders will be hosting Family Bingo Night this Friday in the Cafeteria from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be some GREAT PRIZES handed out to Bingo winners!!!! And there will be Hot Dog Combo meals for sale. $3.00 gets you a Hot dog, chips, water, & cookie. What a deal. All proceeds from this event go directly to the 2nd & 3rd grade teachers for supplies needed in their classrooms. Just to clarify, this event is for ALL grades and their families. There will only be 50 hot dog Combo meals, so first come first serve.

January's Family Food Night

Hunter's January Family Food Night will be held on Tuesday the 19th at Shake N Take Burgers located at 710 W. Ustick Rd. Ste 150, Meridian from 4:00 - 9:00 pm. Shake N Take Burgers will be giving Hunter PTA 20% of the sales that night. Their menu consist of Burgers, Hot Dogs, Shakes, Fries, Chili, Chili tots, sodas. All the good stuff. We hope to see you all their, and don't forget this is a great way to support local businesses that support our school. And just another night that us MOM'S don't have to cook.

Jingle Bell Rock & Holiday Bazaar

Last night was the Jingle Bell Rock and Holiday Bazaar. For those of you that attended, THANK YOU!!! It was a great night and the kids had a blast. We hope you all got a chance to have your picture taken with Santa!!! And maybe purchased a few Christmas gifts or things for yourself.

The PTA really appreciates the continued support of all the Hunter Families. Without all of you we would not have the great success we do.

Jingle Bell Rock Family Fun Night & Holiday Bazaar

Come Rock Around the Christmas Tree at Hunter PTA's Holiday Family Fun Night. There will be a DJ playing some good Oldies music and some great snacks like Kettle Corn, mini smoothies, coffee, hot apple cider. There will also be a Holiday Bazaar with all your favorite vendors. Come Mingle & Jingle with your fellow Hunter families and get some Holiday shopping done while you're at it. Hope to see you all there, it is sure to be a blast!!!

Hunter is now collecting Campbell's Soup Labels

As most of you know, Hunter has been participating in the Box Tops program. And we are now participating in Campbell's Soup Labels. Everyone uses a little Cream of Mushroom soup right???? So please cut off the back portion of your Campbell's soup can and save them. Just as you would do with the Box Tops. Hunter will be collecting the soup labels through out the rest of the year. We ask that you turn them in to your students classroom and their teacher's will pass them onto the PTA. We have a great mom that is volunteering to take on this task, Katie Baker, so a big Thank you to her. And if you have any questions about the soup labels please call Katie at 208-888-9498.

Results from Fuddrucker's

We hope everyone who attended the Fuddrucker's Family Food night had a GREAT time. We love that place. Good food, good atmosphere, and good prices. Hunter families brought in $743.00 in sales, and Fuddrucker's gave us 20% back, which was $148.79. Not bad for a few hours of eating. The PTA thanks all who attended and helped us earn this money. If you were not able to attend, there will be a few more of these events through out the year.

If you were not aware of the event, we have come up with a new way to remind parents the week of AND the day of the event. There will be stickers stuck to the students shirts reminding us all of the event that is taking place. Wish we would have thought of that BEFORE Fuddrucker's. But we are still learning. If you have any ideas or suggestions please let us know. We love getting good advice.

Just wanted to inform everyone that Hunter has received $1537 from all the Box Tops that everyone turned in. The profit from the Halloween Candy Gram sale is $155.

Thank you all to everyone that helped out with this, including the parent volunteers that helped sell the Candy Grams, and the parents that helped sort, organize and turn in all the Box Tops. The PTA can't do all this with out the help from the parents. So thank you again. And keep up the good work!!!! And keep volunteering!!!!!

Halloween Candy Grams are on sale Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday this week. Before & after school AND during lunch time. They are being sold in the front hallway by the office. If you the parents want to come in and purchase some for your students OR send money with your student to purchase during lunch time for their friends and teachers.

Candy Grams are being sold for $ 0.25 each.

Fall Family Fun Night

This Friday, October 30th is Hunter's Fall Family Fun night.

Time: 6:00 - 8:00

Halloween Double Feature - "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" & "The Adventures of Ichabod"

Bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, bean bags, low back chairs to the multipurpose room.

Come dressed in your costumes, There will be a Costume/Trick or treat parade

Parent's bring candy/treats to pass out during parade.

Enter a Pre-carved or decorated pumpkin to enter in the "Jack O' Lantern Raffle. Winners at each grade level for the most creative Jack O' Lantern

Teacher Jack O' Lantern Raffle - Win a Jack O' Lantern created by your teacher. Tickets will be sold for $1.00 each.

Snack Bar Sale - Popcorn $ 0.50 Water $1.00

Hope to see you all there. It will be a fun night for all. And another opportunity for the kids to wear their costumes!!!!

Hello all, just wanted to list a few events for Hunter. These events are for the school in general not to be confused with the PTA calendar of events, although there may be some similarities.

Oct. 19 - Hunter's bus evacuation drills

Oct. 26 - 30 Red Ribbon Week

Oct. 29 - Picture Retakes 8:30 - 9:30 am

Oct. 30 - NO SCHOOL (staff development day)

Nov. 1 - Daylight savings time ENDS (set your clocks back 1 hour)

Nov. 2 - 6 Book Fair!!!

Nov. 3 - PTA Meeting at 4:00 pm in the library

Nov. 4 - Kindergarten Parent/Teacher conferences

Nov. 5 & 6 - K - 5th Parent/Teacher conferences

November's Family Food Night

Hunter's second Family Food Night will be held at Fuddruckers on Eagle Rd. on Tuesday November 10th from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Fuddruckers has graciously agreed to give us 20% of the profit. That is Fantastic!!!

Also a HUGE BONUS, Kids eat FREE with the purchase of an adult meal. So you can go out to a family dinner and give mom a break from cooking and help earn money for Hunter and get a few FREE kids meals out of it....everybody wins!!!!

New for October

Hello Parents, teachers, and students,

October is starting off to be a great month. We have tons of activities planned for the month, starting with the Jog-a-thon which will be held this Friday 10/9. If anyone is interested in volunteering for this we can still use the help, please contact Sara Weber for more details. Her number and email are listed in the upper right hand corner of the blog.

Next we have the Halloween Candy Grams. These can be purchased at the school on 10/26, 10/27, and 10/28 before school, at lunch time and after school. You can come by the school and purchase the candy grams for your student or your student can bring money and purchase the candy grams themselves for other students or their teachers. The Teacher special for Candy grams will be $5 for fewer than 26 students OR $6 for 26 students and up. We are also looking for volunteers to help sell the candy grams in the following time frames:

Monday: 8:30-9:15, 11:15-1:15, 3:30-4:00
Tuesday: 8:30-9:15, 11:15-1:15, 3:30-4:00
Wednesday: 8:30-9:30, 11:15-1:15, 3:30-4:00

The PTA membership drive is going great. We have 100+ memberships so far. If you have not joined yet, you can click on the link to the right to join and pay your membership dues of $10 for the family online.

The Family Food night at Red Robin last month was a great success. Hunter earned $125 from the restaurant. Mrs. Aholt's kindergarten class won the challenge for most students in attendance. Her class will receive FREE milkshake coupons from Red Robin. Yummy!!!!!

The PTA would like to send a HUGE Thank you out to Dr. Payne & Dr. Whitt for the wonderful FREE T-shirts they donated to each student on Back to School Night. A HUGE Thank you goes to Natalie Day for taking on the running of the PTA membership drive and for printing and delivering the PTA membership cards. Also a HUGE Thank you to Jason Pimentel for donating FREE labor to building a storage pull cart for the PTA supplies. WOW, what a help that will be!!! So a BIG Thank You to all of you!!!!

October 30th is Family Movie Night at the school, 6:00pm - 8:00pm. There will be a costume parade and a pumpkin contest (note: please carve and/or decorate your pumpkin at home!). The Kindergarten and First grades will be sponsoring this event. They will be looking for volunteers for this event from the kindergarten and first grade parents. There will be a meeting Tuesday 10/13 in room 12 at 3:45pm to help plan and discuss the event. Questions about PTA

It has come to our attention that some parents have a question about joining the PTA.

Question: "I want to join PTA and contribute $10 for my family, but I am way too busy to go to meetings. Can I just contribute $10 and NOT join?"

Answer: "Great Question! Being a member of PTA is vital to the growth of Hunter Elementary. And, your membership cards enable you to get automatic discounts at many local vendors in the Treasure Valley. However, while the PTA advertises meetings and events, it is not mandatory that you attend meetings." (Although PTA encourages it) So come when you can, we would love to see you there.

Get Ready for Back to School Night

Hunter Elementary is having Back to School Night Thursday, September 24th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This is a night that the teachers ask for the children to stay home if possible. This allows parents to really focus on what our children are learning and what the coming year will bring.

The teachers are working really hard to prepare for this night and I am sure are eager to share this year's curriculum with us.

Also don't forget to stop by the PTA table to purchase your PTA membership and buy your 2009/2010 Spirit Wear. For your convenience we take cash, check, Visa & Master Card We will have samples available. There will be hooded sweatshirts and two toned raglan jerseys and available on line are crew neck sweatshirts, short sleeve t-shirts, and long sleeve shirts. You are going to LOVE our NEW logo!!!

Results of the Red Robin Family Food Night

Thank you to all who were able to participate at our first family food night at Red Robin. It was so much fun and we saw a lot of families there. The energy was buzzing with a very fun kid friendly atmosphere. The staff was wonderful and did a great job.

They earned $1250 from Hunter families, which means the school was given (10%) $125. We are hoping to have more successful family food nights at different restaurants around town. We want to make sure that we give you all as much notice as possible so we can all plan for them in our budgets. We are all being effected my these hard economic times, so we are hoping that advance notice for planning helps out all of us.
